This blog will follow my journey in the studio. I graduated with my M.F.A. from the Ceramics program at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and will be the new Artist-In-Residence (Ceramics) at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, Florida (2018-2019).

slip-cast work in progress
These photos show a piece I am working on in my slip-casting class. It has been through a bisque firing and is in the process of having the surface worked on now. I will be applying some glazes and doing multiple firings to achieve what I have in mind for the piece. Whether or not it turns out the way I imagine it is another story that has yet to unfold. The piece was made from 4 different molds I made and then cut up and assembled to achieve what I have now. I'm really excited learning the processes and hope to incorporate more of them along with my hand-building techniques in future work.

Back from New York City
Well I made it back safely from the Big Apple, had a excellent time conducting the interview and getting to meet with Kukuli Velarde at the Barry Friedman Gallery. Her work is amazing and she was just so down to earth. Above and to the left is Kukuli with some of her work which is showing now at the Barry Friedman Gallery in New York City.

Interviewing Kukuli Velarde in NYC
Well this week has been really busy with school work and research going on as usual, and I'm headed to New York City to conduct an interview with Kukuli Velarde prior to the opening at Barry Friedman Gallery in the Chelsea district. This interview will then be published in "Shop Talk", it's a professional development class in which graduate students conduct interviews for publication. Well I guess I'll have to post how the interview goes, when I return.
