This blog will follow my journey in the studio. I graduated with my M.F.A. from the Ceramics program at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and will be the new Artist-In-Residence (Ceramics) at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, Florida (2018-2019).

Finished Work (2 New Pieces)
Well I still need to photograph some of the glaze tests I had talked about in a previous blog, until then I hope these images will suffice. I've been working on preparing some items I will be investigating with slip-casting and busy dividing my time with numerous works in progress. I have some test tiles of some other glazes for cone 06, as well as a new piece that I am firing to bisque at the moment.
The top picture is of a piece ("Relic"), I didn't finish from last semester; I was trying to figure out the surface treatment for it. The second picture is of a piece ("Fossil Fuel")I did this semester, this piece has the lichen glazes that I've been exploring.
It took a total of 5 firings, to achieve the layering of color within this piece of work. I really like the result of the surface due to the multiple firings and I plan on exploring this further.

The Adventures of Slip-Casting
This weekend I worked on casting some pieces for a couple of different assignments and made a gang mold to hopefully speed up the process, with some general forms, I think I can work with some ideas involving repetitions of modular units to create a sculptural form.

Some work from last semester
The image above represents a piece of work from last semester. I was exploring with my tile designs and making three dimensional forms. I was also exploring glazes for different types of surface effects. The glazes are both cone 06 and sprayed on. The image to the right was made from slabs with the addition of some hand carved areas using a fettling knife and my loop tools.
Up and Running!
After the problems with the last blog page I hope to have this one working right. To catch people up, I've posted some images of some of my work from last semester, so you can have a visual idea of the work and forms I was working on.
