This blog will follow my journey in the studio. I graduated with my M.F.A. from the Ceramics program at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and will be the new Artist-In-Residence (Ceramics) at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, Florida (2018-2019).

Circular Hand Saw in progress-2013
O.K. so you know I haven't just been working on one piece since I've been teaching. I know that my time in the studio has been cut back but I still like to work on multiple pieces as one time. Here are some pictures of another piece I have been working on as well. This piece is hand built using earthenware slabs and press molded additions as well. I have some images showing how I lay out copies of warning labels and symbols associated with the industrial forms I am creating. I do this to give me an idea of how the labels might work with each other before I decide for sure. This helps to act as a visual, when putting in the time necessary for the end result. The particular piece is commenting on the loss of the hand in the work place today, as well as the start of portable electric power tools in society.
New work under construction-February 2013
I finally have transferred some pictures from my phone that I took of some new work that I have been working on. The images show a piece I am currently working on. The piece is created using earthenware and slabs. It is hand built with press molded additions. I want this piece to incorporate a light from within the piece to illuminate an image I have yet to choose. I haven't thought of a title yet, but I'll start to think about it as it starts to come together.

I know I said I would post some pictures of some of the new work I have been working on, but I just haven't had time to photograph the work properly. I recently have an exhibition of my work along with Patricia Wiess, who is an adjunct faculty at IPFW in Painting and Drawing. We recently had an interview conducted about our work on "Arts Weekly", which is a televised show here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Below is a link to view the entire segment, hope you enjoy it.
