This blog will follow my journey in the studio. I graduated with my M.F.A. from the Ceramics program at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and will be the new Artist-In-Residence (Ceramics) at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, Florida (2018-2019).

New Work Under Progress-Cordless Drill
The images posted are of another new piece I have been working on when I have time. The images show the built form and the journey through the bisque and the first glaze firing, with exposed clay around the handle. I plan on using a different material for the grip area. The other pictures show the process of building up the layers on the surface that I do for certain pieces of my work. I still have to add other text and information pertinent to the tool being rendered. I have hand carved the drill bit which will be added last. This piece is hand built using earthenware slabs and press molded additions. I have some more work to do still...I have an idea which includes some slip cast porcelain pieces to go along with the drill. I have been toying with a couple of ideas, drawings I have done for more tangible ideas, to visually see the thought behind the piece. For now this where I am at with the piece, and I don't want to give away any details just yet...since they aren't carved in stone.
